ئەم ماستەر نامەیە دوو شانۆگەری دەخاتە بەر توێژینەوە كە لە ژێر كاریگەرییەكانی هێرشەكانی 11/9 نووسراون، سەردەمێك كە تیایدا ڕەفتارە دژە موسڵمانەكان بە ڕێژەیەكی بەرچاو لە بەریتانیا زیادیان كرد. هەر یەكە لە شانۆگەرییەكان گرفتە ئایینی، سیاسی و كۆمەڵایەتی_كلتوری دەخاتە ڕوو كە ڕوو بەڕووی دیاسپۆڕای پاكستیانی بەریتانی دەبنەوە. بەشی یەكەم پێشەكیە بۆ خستنە ڕووی گرفت و چەمكە سەرەكییەكان كە گفتوگۆیان لێوە دەكرێت لەم توێژینەوەیە. هەروەها پشتێنەیەكی مێژویی بوونی گەلانی باشوری ئاسیا، بە تایبەتی پاكستانیەكان لە بەریتانیا دەخاتە ڕوو لەگەل بابەتە پەیوەندیدارەكانی پەیوەست بە پەیوەندی نێوان داگیركار وداگیركراو. بەشی دووەم بە ئاماژە كردن بە شانۆگەرییەكەی ئەزما داڕ (Chaos 2005) دەكۆڵێتەوە لە ڕوودانی گۆرانكاری لە مەرجەكانی ناساندن سەبارەت بە دیاسپۆڕای پاكستانی دوای 9/11 لە "پاكیز" یان "ئاسیاییەكان" بۆ "تیرۆرستی" توندڕەو. ئەم بەشە جۆرەها شێوازی "ئەوبوون" دەخاتە ڕوو لەسەر بنەمای ڕەگەزایەتی و نەتەوایەتی بۆ بیروڕای ئایینی كە كاریگەری دەكاتە سەر هەستی خۆ بە بەریتانی زانینی دیاسپۆڕای پاكستانی. دوای چەندین دەیە لە پشتگوێ خشتن و پەراوێزكردن لە چوارچێوەی دەقی نیشتیمانی بەریتانیا، پاكستانیە موسڵمانەكان ئێستا بە شێوەیەكی نەرێنی "ڕادە بەدەر بەرچاون". شانۆگەرییەكەی ئەلیا بانۆ (2009 Shades) لە بەشی سێیەم گفتوگۆی لەسەر دەكرێت كە تیایدا گۆڕانكارییەكی تر لە ناسنامەی دیاسپۆڕای پاكستانی دەخرێتە ڕوو. شانۆگەرییەكە وەكو هەولێك یان وەڵامدانەوە بۆ گۆڕینی بیروڕای دژ بە ئیسلام دادەنرێت, شانۆگەرییەكە هاتنە كایەی قەوارەی "لە نێوان" دوو كەلتور دەخاتە ڕوو كە تیایدا بیروڕا چەندبارەییەكانی "ئەوبوون" بەرپەچ دەدرێنەوە. بەشەكە تیشك دەخاتە سەر لە دایك بوونی كایەیەكی "دوو توخم" كە نە "خود"ە و نە "ئەویتر". تێزەكە كۆتایی دێت بە خسنتە ڕووی دەرەنجام و لیستی سەرچاوەكان.

This thesis studies two plays written in the aftermath of 9/11and 7/7 attacks, an era that witnessed visible increasing numbers of Islamophobic attitudes in Britain. Each play highlights religious, political, socio-cultural issues confronting British-Pakistani diaspora. This study inspects identity crises of the Pakistani-Muslim diaspora in Britain at a critical historical period. Chapter one is an introduction to the major problems and concepts discussed in this thesis. It also provides a historical background to the existence of the South Asian populations, specifically Pakistanis in Britain and related issues to coloniser and colonised relationship. Chapter two, in reference to Azma Dar’s play, Chaos (2005), studies a shift in terms of identification regarding the Pakistani diaspora after 9/11 from “Pakis” or “Asians” to radical “terrorists”. The chapter highlights various forms of “Otherness” from racial and ethnic bases to ideological beliefs that affect Pakistani diaspora sense of belonging to Britain. After decades of invisibility and being on the margins of the British national context, Pakistani-Muslims are now negatively “hyper-visible”. Alia Bano’s play Shades (2009) is discussed in chapter three in which another shift in the identity of Pakistani diaspora is presented. The play is considered as an attempt of identity eradication or a response to Islamophobics. The play highlights the emergence of the “in-between” cultural space at which stereotypes of “Otherness” are challenged. The chapter sheds light on the birth of a “hybrid” account that is neither “Self” nor the “Other”. The thesis ends with the conclusions and the list of references.
