Keywords in English: t Abstract in English: Osman Sabri(1905-1993)his biography, political and educational role. This paper focuses on one of the great and influential figures of the Kurdish Nationalist Movement. He insisted continuously on Kurdish rights and freedom and due to his nationalist views he was imprisoned and sent into exile several times by Turkish, French and Syrian authorities. The thesis can be viewed asimportant in the sense that Osman Sabri consistently had a crucial role in political, educational and social life amongst Kurdish communities; he was also involved in many significant incidents. In addition, he was one of the major activists of the Kurdish organization ‘Xoybûn (or Khoyboun’)from which he was persuaded to join Seid Raza, leader of theDersim revolution. He was also one of the activists who carried out many useful initiatives for the development ofXoybûn in Syria. He was the leader of many revolutionary fighters when entering Turkey in the struggle against the Turkish attacks on Mount Ararat; he was alsocensored by the French authorities in Syria. Osman Sabri took part in establishing the Kurdistan Democratic Party in Syria and played a major role in its development; for instance, he offered great support for the party’s opinions and methods which he presented the Supreme State Security Court of Syria in Damascus. After the division of the party, he was elected as a secretary of Kurdish Democratic Left Partyin Syria;he then began a ruthless armed revolution against Syria’s racist actions in the Jazira and Hasaka regions. In this paper, the role of this notable has been presented in terms of education, ideology and literature; for instance, developing Kurdish learning skills by encouraging Kurdish young adults in Damascus to learn the Kurdish language. As well as establishing an unofficial school in a Kurdish area in Syria, he has written many books and articles in various journals; this became a turning point for the development ofa Kurdish cultural revolution in Kurdistan. The aim of this paper is to reveal that Osman Sabri has been regarded as an icon of revolutionary virtues, sacrifices, political views and Kurdish education, which has led to him having a strong influence on future generations. Despite his great roles and influence, much of his work and activities has been taken for granted. It is truly essential to show his revolutionary approaches and thoughts B through distinct historical and political academic research in order to introduce the rules that Osman Sabri had applied in evolving Kurdish National Movement Activism. The structure of the research consists of three parts: introduction, three sections, conclusion and index. The first section discusses the stage of Osman Sabri’s development and his struggles in Northern Kurdistan (1905 - 1929). The second sectionconcentrates on Osman Sabri’s, political and educational role (1929 - 1957). And the third section is about Osman Sabri’s national struggle and endeavours in Syria (1957 - 1970). |
